Peter
Maths Teacher
I did a 4 year integrated masters in mathematics (MMath) at Durham University before training as a teacher at Canterbury Christ Church University during the pandemic. In total I’ve been a Teacher/Tutor for 5 years now, with the last 3 being entirely online. I’ve supported pupils with a very broad range of SEND such as ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, and Visual Impairment.
I’m a firm believer in a student-led approach to maths teaching. I always plan my lessons around questions that get my pupils thinking deeper about why an approach works, rather than focusing on memorising a technique. My first goal in teaching is to make students feel confident exploring different ways to solve problems, even if they don’t find the correct idea straight away. Many pupils feel quite anxious about maths so confidence building is always at the centre of my lessons and I’m often encouraging pupils to be comfortable testing out ideas independently.

Tanya
Humanities Teacher
Tanya has been a Humanities teacher for 20 years, of those 15 were in classroom secondary teaching in mainstream schools and since January 2024 has tutored online for TLC. Tanya has taught across the Humanities subjects and was the Head of Department for Philosophy, Ethics and RS at a large secondary school for 9 years. Tanya was an exam marker for OCR for several years. She has a lot of experience working with SEND students from age 11-18. Tanya is a compassionate and friendly person who sees the potential in all students. Another of her interests is Yoga – Tanya is a qualified yoga teacher who teaches regular classes to adults and has experience teaching yoga to young people.

Liam
Maths teacher
Liam has worked as a mathematics teacher for four years and has specialised in online teaching for the last two. He is a hardworking, dedicated teacher whose passion for his subject always shines through. He has a lot of experience working with SEND children and excels in showing patience whilst nurturing enthusiasm within all his students. Liam has extensive knowledge of mathematics and engineering at all levels, from GCSE to A-Level and beyond.

Sarah
Science Teacher
After graduating in Forensic Science with a BSc Honours degree Sarah became a Forensic Scientist, working alongside the police for 6 years. She then decided to share her love for science and become a Science Teacher. She completed a Graduate Teacher Program in 2011 at University and she has been teaching science for the last 14 years both in mainstream secondary schools and online.
Sarah loves science and finds it fascinating as it helps humanity see things from different perspectives, solves critical problems, creates open minded debate and collaboration, and provides us with growing knowledge and opportunities.
Her passion for science made the decision to become a science teacher an easy one. It is a career where you can share your love and joy of a subject on a daily basis. Children have naturally inquisitive minds, and Sarah’s role is to support them and their investigation of the world around us.
