KS4 Digital Skills

Digital Skills at KS4 is designed to equip learners with essential digital skills, enabling them to navigate both personal and professional environments with confidence. Learners develop practical competencies that are increasingly necessary in today’s digital landscape, supporting their progression into job roles where digital literacy is a fundamental requirement.

A key focus of Digital Skills at KS4 is to provide learners with the opportunity to acquire a range of practical skills. These skills are relevant to various aspects of modern life, from workplace efficiency to personal digital engagement. Learners gain the ability to interact securely and effectively in an increasingly digital world.

The subject has four primary objectives:

1. Protecting devices and data – Develop an understanding of digital security, including how to safeguard personal and professional information from cyber threats. Including knowledge of secure passwords, data encryption, and identifying online risks.

2. Social and professional digital communication – The effective digital communication in both social and professional settings. Learners will explore different platforms, such as email, video conferencing, and collaborative online tools, ensuring they can communicate appropriately and professionally.

3. Applying digital skills in various contexts – Digital competency is vital across personal and business settings. Learners will utilise digital tools for efficiency, productivity, and organisation, whether in a personal capacity or within a professional role.

4. Using digital resources for career progression – How learners can leverage digital tools to support their career development. This includes using online platforms for job searching, professional networking, and acquiring new skills through e-learning resources.
