Wellbeing Wednesday

Wellbeing Wednesdays provide students with a valuable midweek opportunity to step away from their usual academic schedule and focus on their mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. These dedicated sessions incorporate activities designed to reduce stress, build resilience, and encourage self-reflection, ensuring that students develop essential life skills alongside their academic studies. Wellbeing Wednesdays foster a supportive environment where students can recharge and engage in positive self-care. Prioritising wellbeing will not only enhance student happiness and motivation but also improve overall academic performance and personal development.

One-to-one mentoring

One-to-one mentoring provides students with personalised support, helping them navigate academic challenges, build confidence, and develop essential life skills. Through weekly, structured sessions with a dedicated mentor, students receive guidance tailored to their individual needs, whether in academic subjects, personal development, or future aspirations. A strong mentoring relationship fosters a sense of trust and encouragement, allowing students to set goals, reflect on progress, and overcome obstacles with expert support. By offering a safe and supportive hour for discussion, one-to-one mentoring empowers students to reach their full potential, boosting both their academic success and overall wellbeing.

PSHE lessons

PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) education plays a crucial role in preparing students for life beyond the classroom, with all lessons carefully designed to meet national curriculum requirements. This structured approach covers essential topics such as mental wellbeing, relationships, personal safety, and financial literacy, ensuring students gain the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions. A well-planned, progressive curriculum allows learning to be age-appropriate, engaging, and relevant, helping students build emotional resilience and develop a strong sense of personal responsibility. By delivering high-quality PSHE lessons, schools provide vital support for students’ personal growth, equipping them with the confidence and awareness needed for adulthood.

Let’s Move

Let’s Move is a dedicated weekly hour designed to encourage students to prioritise physical activity in a way that suits them. Whether it’s going for a walk with a family member, taking part in a sports activity, or joining an online session such as yoga, this initiative promotes both physical and mental wellbeing. Regular movement is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, improving focus, and reducing stress, making it an important part of a balanced routine. By incorporating active time into the week, students develop positive habits that support their overall health and enhance their ability to engage effectively in their studies.

Let’s Create

Let’s Create is a dedicated weekly hour that encourages students to explore their creativity while gaining valuable recognition for their skills. Through the AQA Unit Award Scheme, students can choose from over 1,000 different units, allowing them to pursue their interests in art, music, writing, design, and more. Each successfully completed unit is rewarded with a certificate, enabling students to build a portfolio that showcases their achievements and development. This structured yet flexible approach boosts confidence, increases engagement, and enhances motivation, supporting learners in their personal and academic growth. By fostering creativity in a meaningful way, Let’s Create helps students develop skills that will benefit them throughout their lifelong learning journey.
